hi guys, i have a 89 f250 with a 5.8l in it, with no tranny, and a 96 f250 with a 460 and a blown motor, will the e40d go into the 89, or did the 89 have the c6, i was just looking under the hood of the 89, and didnt see the wires to hook up the e40d, and then it hit me that that year truck may have had the c6, but cant remember correctly, please let me know......
It's possible that the 89 had a c6, but it could have also had an e4od, they started using the e4od in 89. It's also possible that it had an AOD --- the AOD started in 1980.
Regardless, a 460 transmission has a different bellhousing than a small block transmission, therefore that e4od from the 351 is not going to swap any way you look at it. Sorry brother.
crap, now im back to square one, i have a truck with a good motor and no trans, and a blown motor with a good trans... now i need to sell my e40d with t/c and find a AOD with a t/c...
You should also be able to swap in a c6, 'cept you'll get crappy mileage from not having OD, although the c6 is a bulletproof transmission. Other option is to swap in a manual tranny. Whatever you do, just make sure it comes from a 460 or it won't mate to the block correctly.
