yes you can.... the way the edge is set up is that you can just choose which level if you want, and all of the set points are set up for what edge thinks they should be for that level. however, if you alter things such as octane level, you can go in and change things such as timing. you can always also adjust your shift points and firmness, wide open throttle fuel, tire size, etc any time. just be sure that you make all the adjustments at the same time. you cannot go in and change just one setting at a time until you get it where you want, they must all be re-entered every time.

Why dosent Ford make the truck like this from the factory!
THAT IS A NO-NO! You run the risk of predetonation and blowing the engine. Follow the instructions in the manual! Octane booster gives only a very slight boost on a tank of gas. Probably not even .5 boost. You need at least 91 octane for level 3 to function safely. I really don't understand why you don't read the nmanual and follow the instructions. I run level 3 all the time with custom settings and 93 octane. I get better mpg than I do on level 2 and I enjoy the way it performs. Level 2 provides more low ind torque for city driving or towing. Level 3 provides more upper range rpm performance for the highway or racing.

i dont have an edge but I am seriously considering getting one (or some tuner), although i thought i read that level 1 was 87 level 2 was 89 and level 3 was 91 or higher, so if some of you guys were running the truck at level 2 and only using 87 could that damage the engine?

OK this is intersesting, but may I hijack for a moment.

Concerning the Edge programmer, will it void the factory warrenty? (Yes I've searched).

Now back to your regularly scheduled forum.

Page 4 in the manual, level 2, Tow Performance Program, 87+ octane. Any octane over 87, the timing should be increased. You can run 89 but should bump the timing up +1. The same is true if you run 93 on level 3, bump the timing +1, as it is designed for 91 octane.

Most dealers will attempt to void the warranty if it is something a tuner could have caused to fail. There are some dealers that don't. Check with your dealer. That is why I waited till I was nearly out of the warranty before addingthe Edge. I put it on at 31,000 miles and it has been flawless.

OK I just noticed something both the manual in my box and the manual on the internet say level 1 is the "Trans Only" tune, yet the actual Edge screen in my truck has #1 listed as "Economy." And when you read about the Evolution on Edge site, it says there are three levels with 1 being "Trans only" but then it goes on to state there is a special Economy tune for MPG.

Im confused!! Is the Economy tune something new that just came out?
