heated seats not functioning and lights for same not staying lit

I have an '04 F-150 Lariat 4x4 and just tried my heated seats the other day and the two little lights (the red led) that come on just light for a second and then go out no matter how many times I may push the heated seat button on both sides (driver and passenger). Does this sound like a fuse? Usually the two little lights stay on and if you push again it goes to just one led and the third time would turn them off but it isn't working at all except for a brief second like a failure and the seats aren't heating as usual. (at all, really)

I seem to be having the same problem with mine as well. I have a 2006 screw lariat 4x4. I only noticed this about a few weeks ago when I wanted to use them. I am suspicious that it may have something to do with a new processor that I had to get replaced after a lightening storm knocked my truck out of commission up in the moutains. I do not know if the seats may need to be programmed into it or what and they just forgot to do it? Of course this was done at a dealership about 100 miles away from home. I am due for an oil change soon at my local Ford dealership and I am planning to have them look at my seats while they are at it. I hope it something as simple as a fuse, but you never know. I will keep you posted on what happens.

More than likely, you have an open circuit in the heater grid for the seat.

I have the exact same problem on my 2005 Expedition. The heated or cooled seats will not work. The indicator lights come on, then quickly turn off when I push the switch.

jwh....is it both seats and switches or just the drivers side? and Ranger, if it is both would it still be an open in the grid or could it possibly be the seat heater relay? Normally on chev or dodge only one side will go out or worse burn your *** if there is an open but I'm new to the Ford scene.
