This question is for people that have edge insights or other monitoring tools.
Ok I have a edge insight, I mointor my soot level with it. I Always let the soot level run down to 10% when it regens. It is regenning within 120-150. Normal drive is 15 to 20 miles in traffic freeway.
Regens take about an extra 5 to 8 miles to complete once started.
Durring towing I See very little to to no regens.
What changed.
I only notice the possible issuse when I installed the Edge Insight.
At the same time I went with Chev Delo 5-40 syn oil and Blue def from walmat. I am about ready to go back to motocraft oil
I use ford pm22 for the fuel at recommended levels.

Just as a point of reference, dealer service writer told me I should expect to use MORE DEF when towing, and when doing short trips. I have no way to monitor usage other than what the truck is telling me for miles left for DEF usage.
Ok, during normal traffic/driving, you do not put much load on the engine, so it creates more soot thus needing to regen more often. On the flip side, the DEF fluid is not used near as much because the exhaust system temps are not high enough for the system to be able to properly use the DEF system.
During towing, its pretty much the opposite. Towing puts the engine in a high load duty cycle, which creates less soot, and high exhaust temps allowing the DPF system to do a "Passive" regen where it uses strictly exhaust heat to burn off the Particulate Matter. This is also where you use ALOT of DEF fluid, because the temps are high enough, the DEF fluid is able to be burned correctly, thus reducing the Nitrous Oxide (NOx) emissions of the engine.
EGT14 is the sensor post DPF, last sensor.
I think the first (EGT11) and last are the best to monitor.
If the last is at or above that number, you know the DPF is cleaning passively and depending on how much over, you should see the soot slowly drop.
Sometimes the DPF heats up a little using engine braking down a hill, which I've always thought was "interesting" even though post turbo was cooler.
