I am getting ready to change my trans fluid. Maybe I'm a moron, but with all the conjecture, TSBs and so on, I find fluid choice for this to be the most confusing thing.
I believe that Quaker State bottles Super Tech oils. At least a few years ago I asked Walmart who packed their oils and that is what I was told. You should be able to either ask Walmart about their oils or ask Quaker State. That shouldn't be a trade secret all your asking is the difference between HM & reg ATF.
I guess I probably have to take a close look at the bottle in the store. Who would be "Plastipak" and "G", BTW?
WPP make/molds their own plastic containers onsite, hence the "WPP" on the bottle bottom. The Plastipak and G are trademarks for plastic companies that mold bottles for other vendors to include SOPUS and MOBIL.
You are always goin to get 20 different answers for "who makes Supertech oil?". Many are right in some regards and outright wrong in others.
The Skinny is that Wal-Mart takes in bids for any blender to make their Supertech house brand. Many times it can be two or three different regional blenders making Supertech at the same time. SOPUS, Mobil and WPP have or had made Supertech at one time. While WPP is often the most encountered blender, people on the east coast can at times find Mobil blended Supertech labeled oil. This is not to say the Supertech labeled oil made by Mobil is the same as the Mobil labeled oil.
A year from now, the Supertech could be made by someone else totally different than who is making it today. So long as the current and any future blender meets the API spec, I would not get wrapped around the axel trying to figure out who the current maker or makers is.
