I wasn't sure of the terminology here, probably why I didn't find what I was looking for by using the search feature.
Last week while changing the oil I noticed black soot on my oil filter, appears that the doughnut gasket is leaking in the pipe junction coming from the manifold.
So, I have a few questions:
1. I did not check the other side. Is there a similiar junction on the other side?
2. Is this best replaced with a stock gasket or is there something better?
3. It appears as though, with the oil filter removed, I can cut those bolts with a sawzall or torch, or something else maybe???? What do you guys reccommend?
4. Any tips or advice from yall to make this job smoother and easier for me?
That connection actually has no gasket. its just a metal to metal ball and socket type joint. Chances are the bolts are just loose. but the bolt also won't tighten up we either so yes just cut the bolts off and put in new 1/4 bolts that are grade 8
