Is any one running this stuff? it seems pretty pricey. but it looks like a good product. I saw it on diesel site when i was looking T the 203* t-stat.
it's about $30 a gal ouch! J
For the cost I see no real benefit from what I have heard of the stuff. No experience with it but you will need upwards of 7 to 8 gallons to completely fill your engine! Do you really want to spend nearly $250 on coolant? Then what happens with you have burst hose? I have heard of people running it but their truck cooled just as well as mine.
Well I just read most of the description of the Evens stuff. it all sounds good but the cost is still a killer in my book. I just paid $10/gallon for zerex G-05 and that is a bit high in my book and it only required 4 gallons since you mix with water.
I have used with great results. But it will fool you. Evans will show a higher liquid temp with lower metal temp. So looking at a coolant gauge you see a higher coolant temp (liquid) but metal is lower. The pressureless cooling system is great. Evans extracts and dissapates heat quickly.
Would not use in my PSD though.
90% of the time i cannot enough heat into the motor to begin with.
A diesel does not have alot of energy losses converted to heat like a gasser.
Also a convert to evans if needed you have to remove all liquid coolers and install air coolers (oil, trans, ect) due to elevated coolant temps can raise fluid temps.
I would use it in a liquid cooled intercooler for a psd.
Oh great I know something about this, lol, water is the greatest heat absorbing medium known. I am 99% sure of this as I studied water, moisture, vapor and tons of other related shwit for two years for a stupid FL. HVAC license. Cheap too.
Many say the Zerex shouldn't go in these truck unless they came with the Ford Gold coolant. I don't buy it. They also could provide no documentation or proof. I ran it in my 95 for 2 years with no problems. The Zerex is no different than any other coolant that doesn't come in our truck stock. I believe Zerex is approved by all the big three and many heavy duty engine makers including Navistar.
I was looking at the bottle today and it looks like our year of trucks fall out of there recomdations.. either that or I miss read there chart. I would like to use it if it's ok.. IT has SCA in it dose;nt it?
but coolant is some thing I don't know much about. Thanks j
I don't know much about it either. i just run it. If your concerned about it there is nothing wrong with using the standard green with SCA added. There is no harm in running that as long as you keep it maintained which is pretty easy.
