idk where this screen is? and what is that post standing up where the fuel filter goes around? and does it come off? my truck was running like @$@% a few days ago until i flushed the bowl out with fresh fuel.
Check this thread: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...pr-screen.html it should have all of the info that you need. If your FPR screen is really dirty it will make a difference, but you may not be able to feel it.

Reason: addition
isnt the screen more easily gotten to if you just unbolt the FPR and clean that way? It pulls right out. I also pulled all the fuel bowls off all the trucks to clean toaday, your right, there is a lot of garbage that collects in there.

It is , but most don't want to mess with the o rings....
Farm69, the best way that I have found to clean the filter housing with it on the truck is with brake cleaner. Remove the filter, open the water drain, once the fuel has drained out, spray the inside real good with brake cleaner to wash out everything, (it does a nice job), LET THE BRAKE CLEANER EVAPERATE (about 10-15 min.) before re-installing the filter. Don't forget to close the water drain.
I forgot a few days ago, drove a little over 3 miles before I noticed, (truck ran fine, with plenty of power) the fuel guage dropped from about 3/4 to 1/4 tank. Where I live that brain fart cost me about $40 Ouch!!
In a bind. Quick flush. Remove the rubber return line off the FPR. Shoot carb cleaner into the FPR while you drain the canister. It flushes the restrictor and screen in a reverse flow. Works great for a quicky.
Here is a photo of early style FPR.
To the left is the return to tank hose barb.
In the photo you can also see the .020 restrictor thats behind the screen.
The check ball will just flop around inside while back flushing with motor off. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2356...46186803tyhwwz
