My truck is a 96 F150. I am not sure of the location of the spout connector. Just below the coil is a grey plug with a wire going in each side. My hazy Hanes manual talks about vehicles equipped with TFI-IV ignition systems. "Vehicles with a double wire spout connector incorporate a special shorting bar into the connector. Remove the shorting bar to disable ignition advance".
I believe the TFI is mounted on the drivers side inner fender just forward of the firewall. I have located a plug that fits the description of the shorting plug. Would this be my spout or is it the one below the coil???
I believe it is just off of the distributor. There should be a bundle of wires running off the dist. that comes to an end, with a little cap on the end. thats the spout connector. pull it. at least that's where my 302 has it...haha. maybe the I6 isn't the same. but worth checkin....
