I wonder how many people hear aware any of that? I am aware of the difference in the 6 and 12 volt cables, and have seen and replaced the steel woven cables as far as the colors go, other than red for positive and black for negative I am not sure of the reason for the other colors. Not that it matters, what about a positive ground system, do they still use red for positive? Better yet did ford use a positive ground system? If so on what? Just some food for thought.
The reason for the red battery ground cable was Ford vehicles were 6 volt positive ground from the 1920's thru 1955. Ford went to 12 volt negative ground in 1956. The red cable was used as an alert to designate which was the ground cable.
Bill If you are talking Battery cables You must be getting Close. And I erge any who has not seen FXDC4419 Galleries, check it out! Bill, are you going to get an apprasial done after the truck is finished?

Is that required for Insurance?
Hey Bill, I had not thought about that, probably a good idea. And yes I am getting closer. I have to get it mobile so I can get the bed to the paint shop. As far as Body work goes, a little more sanding and prep work on the bed and I have to finish the body work on the tailgate and get them both to paint and all the body work will be done. And then it is mostly reassembly and trying to get the right quality pieces for the finishing touches. Good to hear from you.

Some how I knew you would have an answer there. I am starting to like asking these questions just so I can see what your answers will be. And thanks again for the tip on Dearborn Classics that was what I was looking for.
LMC TRUCK has replacement battery cables in various lenths. I suspect these would look very close to oem. Prices seem to be reasonable. www.lmctruck.com I've had very good luck with these guys. Brett
You are probably right, however this particular vendor seems to be taboo around here since they are not a sponsor of this site. I have made several purchases from them prior to becoming a member of FTE with good success with the exception of a couple of items I have been quite pleased. As far as the cables go they are not very specific about the OE quality of there replacements. For that reason I am a little hesitant. NPD also offers them but they as well do not get very specific. The other thing is that it is not like going to the parts store to take something back that is wrong or not to your liking. It gets much more complicated shipping a part back. you usually end up paying the additional shipping costs and it takes along time. Not to mention that my patients goes out the window in those situations. So I like to be very confident that I am getting what I really want going in. Thank you very much for your suggestion it is very much appreciated.

Bill's dandruff level gets high sometimes, and he types a lot of great nonsense when in the information overload zone.
John
I don't have dandruff and at 63, still have all my hair, can you still say that?
John, 90% of what's posted on the net is nonsense. How many ppl care if a 1966 Ford truck has the Johnson Rod attached to the perimeter? Or care whether the headlamp fluid is DOT approved, or whether the muffler bearings are tapered roller or not. They prolly do care, if they discover that the optional captive air tires are subject to flatuency of the perimeter.
You gotta hand it to Ford for making the perfect family pickup. It has a hood for father, a cowl for mother, and a rattle for baby!

I bet you were the old looking geaser with the beard, and lots of shine on top.John
I sent you a pic awhile ago with yours truely standing next to a truck, and propped up with a "Winchester" cane. You'll clearly see the two mugs are a match. The geezer is my cousin, he's 84 years old and lives in Massachusetts, as do most of the other relations in that photo. What's funny about my relations is: the ppl that live on the right coast are left wingers, My immediate family lives on the left coast, and we are right wingers.
