ok so should i check the actual filter or just go by the minder? should i change it sooner than the minder or will it hurt anything if i change it every 3 or 4 oil change??

There is no way to check the filter by looking at it. Just go by the filter minder. Filter minders have been used by off road & heavy equipment for years very successfully. Filter minders measure vacuum resistance.

You can change your filter element sooner, but you are just hurting your pocket book as the filter is about $55 each.
