over the weekend I was at my parents house and had the chance to do some fishing....was having fun untill my fathers 93 f-150 started to have some problems. When you start to accelerate the truck will start to studder, then you can let off and push lightly and it will be better. any time the engine is under a load ( ie...acceleration and stomping it) the truck will cut out. It even died trying to cross the intersection. I checked the exhaust...its fine...the only thing I can think of is something with the fuel. When you run on the back tank it only hesitates a little then you can switch to the front tank but if you start on the front tank it will most likely die a couple times first before you can go anywhere. My guess was to bypass the fuel selector valve and see how it runs but if someone know's the answer I would love to hear it. I am getting sick and tired of hearing my dad say he should have kept his old chevy. Thank you for your time.
I have a '93 with the same prob. Most posts I see about hesitation are coming off of idle. Mine (I think, ours) is a problem with load. I do a lot of highway driving. Once I have to reaplly speed, she starts stumbling pretty bad. It's gets up there, but it's not pretty.
Sounds like plenty of reason to start using the SEARCH function of this site for "EGR" and "Restrictor (plate)". It sounds like the classic EFI 4.9 symptom in need of the 'fix'.
