The only part number I've seen is for the 99.5's and up. Early 99's have shorter up-pipes, so I don't know how or if the International bellowed pipes would fit.

no they do not make them for the early 99..the pipes are shorter..but the bigest reason is there is not enough ealry 99's or similiar out there to make it worth it..kind of like some PCM's in the early 99 do not like chips..i looked into this a while back..

AMJperformance makes an upgraded gasket from what their site says. I have not heard anything on it though.

They appear to be metal which ought to prevent some leakage when properly installed.

EDIT: I thought for sure that is where I got that pic but cannot find it there on that site now. Whoops. Anyone, before I delete the post?

Just saw those gaskets for $89 on Ebay. curious myself if the upgraded gaskets work (especially for that price). BWD doesn't sell bellowed pipes for an early 99. I emailed them last week.

Copy of email

"Derek,

Sorry but the bellowed up pipes will not fit the early 99. Navistar does make some but they are 900.00."

Early 99 guys get the shaft again. And it's not even a Phat shaft at that.

Found the ebay Item number: 130172652302

No way, there is no "crush" on those gaskets. They will leak like a sieve on the PSD the way it is designed. It has to be a tapered seat on both the upper and lower seats for those type of metal gaskets to work properly.
I use them all the time at work for VW catalytic converters. ( And for a MUCH lower price too. )
The up-pipes on the PSD are designed for the flange to crush the gasket and then it shrinks down on the pipe and "hugs" it to make the seal.
How are you going to get a solid metal gasket to do that?

Dan, they look to be tapered on both sides. Need I remind you there is no gasket on the DP for our trucks, or the IC plumbing? Why wouldn't snugging them down for a seal work? Again, I did say I have heard no posts on these but not sure they are not a better idea.

that was my thought, although did run it through my mind about brazing them to the pipe, but the other seat would have to be in pretty good shape, and steel is prone to crack over time
can't believe two of them could be $89 though
I have heard of the fiber donuts being used and they will crush somewhat, but with the amount of work involved would rather do it right and forget it

I think they would be made of a very soft brass which would let them crush in to the pipes (would have to be new i would think), and make a seal. It's just the thing that the pipes expand then contract, which makes the whole donut gasket thing seem stone-age once you've seen the light of the bellows. But i do understand your problem.
