Don't be ashamed, most of the basic repair manuals do about a 75% job of describing things. The other 25% usually falls on experience. If you don't have any, that is fine, it just might take a little longer the first few times you try a DIY. After a few years and several bloody knuckles later, you might find that you know more about your 2.8L than your average mechanic. They can't know every engine, and many of the older engines just don't come to them all that often.

I also hate how they cram 10 different car types/engines in there...If you've got the inline 4 with pink rims do this...v6 do this, and they jump around all over the place...its very confusing
