At UPS we use the Ford 300's and the GM292's mostly with the NP435 and 465 gearboxes. And I talked to our mechanics and they said our 300's don't have the forged cranks, they buy remanufactored units from someplace in Ohio for the Ford's.
Do you use the 8:1 forged or hypereutectic pistons? Are you still using 8:1? I forget who it was, but someone called up a header company and the specs on the header said it was for UPS trucks..... How much HP you gettin out of these things! hehehe.
I think they are still using the hypereutectic pistons at a pretty low compression. I've been told that some are even found with 2 headgaskets. They like to keep the compression low so they can run the cheap gas. They are using Borla headers that are 2into 1 because the exhaust manifolds keep cracking.I don't know how much horsepower they are running but I doubt that its very high especially with the 1bbl Carter.:P
SSShhhhhh!! That was me I have a brand new set of those Borla headers in my shed and they don't fit Broncos or pick ups. They might work on vans if you know anyone looking for a set send them my way abrahams2(No Email Addresses In Posts!) Thanks!
