building up a 289

I am going to build up a 289 that is supposed to be out of a 66 mustang. Is there any suggestions on what parts to use? It is just the block and crank. What is the differance between a 289 and 302? Thanks eric

I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE THE SAME BLOCK, BUT THE 289 HAD A SHORTER STROKE THATS ALL. 302 , 351W HEADS WILL FIT ON THE 289 BLOCK. BYE THE WAY WHAT CODE OF A 289 DO YOU HAVE THERE A-C-D-K(K CODE IS THE BEST IT THE HI-PERFORMENCE ONE)

WELL GOOD LUCK FROM FLARESIDE....

Yeah Flareside why are you shouting? Would the oil pan from a 351W fit the 289 block? And what cam do you guys recomend? Is there any way to tell what exactly the engine came out of? There were a couple of people that wanted to buy only the crank but my dad wanted to sell the block and all. Is there anything special about certain cranks? Thanks Eric
