I have a 89 w/300 EFI in front of a 4 speed trans. When i start it cold it revs up real high then the RPM drops off and will die if i don't feather the gas to keep it runnning. This has just started doing this in the last few weeks and seems to be getting worse. What could it be?
I also have started to have a clutch problem (not related to the first problem, at least i don't think so). The clutch will get REALLY stiff and hard to push, it still works and i can shift it, it is just harder than heck to push. It only does it about 50% of the time, then it goes back to normal. Any help on these 2 problems would be great and save me alot of time and money.
first problem try replacing the fuel filter
the second problem sounds like the slave cylinder or the throw-out bearing is going...also try bleeding the line.
Are you idling normally? Perhaps your IAC is stuck or clogged enough that it cannot function properly. You should be able to pull off your intake hoses and take a look and clean out your IAC. Of course first thing would be to check/replace fuel filter as suggested above.
It is idling just fine after it warms up. I have replaced the fuel filter less than six months ago when i did a major tune up. This thing has got me baffled.
