I locked my hubs today before I went on a little drive to get everything spinning and "lubed up". I noticed when I pulled out of my driveway, with the hubs locked, there was kind of a "squeak", or a "dragging" sound coming from the front end. I drove for about a half mile, got out and unlocked hubs, and it still made that noise for a few seconds and then went away. I made it to my destination, and decided to test it. I locked the hubs again, and the noise came back, but eventually went away. Admittedly it has been a while since I have locked the hubs to get everything moving, so is there something wrong, or did things just need to be lubed up again? Thanks!
Hey squeaky, on the pavement the wheels will chatter. I have been in the driveway backing in to my yard and coming off the pavement my wheels chatter. I think it's normal on hard pavement.

It has never done this before when I have had the hubs locked on pavement. It wasnt a chatter, it was like a squeak, as if something was slightly dragging. Got louder the faster I went. Thats the best I can describe it. I know the wheels will chatter or skip if you are in 4WD and make a turn on dry pavement. That is not my case.
Like I said, it completely went away after a few miles of driving.
I don't know if the 07 hubs are different in the 2000 hubs. If they're the same they are non rebuild and not serviceable. I replaced mine, I believe that 20,000 miles, and it cost $500 a wheel. If that's what it is. You need to do it soon it will take out rotor and Cal. Jack the front of the truck and if the wheel moves at all it's most likely a hub.

Since my truck is only a year old, with only 16,000 miles on it, shouldn't it be covered under warranty...if the hubs have gone bad and didn't just need to be used a little? $500.00 per wheel?! What hubs do you use? I have been looking at Warn Hubs off and on, and they have been between $150 and $200 a wheel.
I don't know a whole lot about hubs. Like I said, it only made noise for a while, and the noise eventually went away. I am assuming all that happened is like what boxcar said, something within the hubs was dirty/rusty/not lubed and just needed some use to clean itself up. The noise is gone now, I just wanted to make sure something wasn't wrong.

If the hubs or unit bearings fail, yes it would be covered under warranty. Your 07 has a 3/36k bumper to bumper and a 5/60k power train warranty, both of which would cover these problems.

Thats what I thought...I was gonna go crazy if it was going to cost me $1,000.00 to fix a factory part on a 1 yr old truck!
I think he's talking about the actual hub assembly not the hub lockouts. You should be fine, mine has done the same thing if I havent run the 4wd in a while.
To answer the hub lock question. The OEM automatic hubs are expensive. I could see it costing $500 with the price of the part and some sort of labor. The 99-04 are replaceable with aftermarket hubs, either ESOF or manual. ESOF would then be manual with a dash switch instead of a lever. Lots of discussions on this though. 05 up as far as I know don't have an aftermarket replacement, but at the same time don't seem to be nearly as troublesome.
The noise could have been anything. The axle shafts and front driveshafts don't normally turn. So dirt, or anything could have been somewhere it shouldn't. A u-joint cap seal could have been dry. If it went away, I wouldn't worry about it too much on such a new truck. The needle bearings would make noise with the truck in 2wd since the hub spins around the axleshaft on those bearings, and spins at the same speed as the axle shaft in 4x4.
