Fixed auto locking hubs

Just wanted to take a moment to thanks everyone on here. My auto-locking hub system gave up the ghost during chain controls in Donner pass. Was able to manually lock them in and get home safe.

After I read the countless threads on here I found the vacuum solenoid wasn't working. Swapped that out to find a vacuum leak, fixed the leak and got the esof working again. Than had the pax side hub freeze up in lock, so again a visit to FTE. Found the write up on guzzles website, did the disassembly, clean, lube and reassemble and now the whole thing is working as intended.

Thanks again. Love what an amazing resource this site is.

Congrats on getting her working right.

You should consider becoming a member. Get some FTE bling, get rid of the pop up ads, and it's cheaper than an Alldata subscription and more helpful.

I love this site

Just curious, did you use an aftermarket solenoid or oem?

I have been considering it...just not in the budget currently..someday i hope to though

And I used an OEM one..I have never had much luck with aftermarket sensors and such lasting very long.

Thank you for letting me know. I had a problem with my esof not unlocking with new solenoid. It turned out to be bad aftermarket solenoids. OEM fixed it.

I just went through the entire ESOF system as I have been manually locking my hubs for the past 5yrs. Decided to go through it all while replacing ball joints. It is nice to have them working again.
New vaccuum zerks, cleaned the passages etc. And all because of the info from this forum.

I'm in the middle of doing the same on my truck as well. I have it all torn down and cleaned up, ready to put back together with new parts as soon as I can afford them. I just put together a parts list for all the work I'm doing (some engine mods too) and it sits at about $2500 right now so it might be a little while before it's back on the road.

I've done countless repairs on all my trucks that I couldn't have done without FTE. This site has literally saved me thousands and thousands of dollars.
