At what RPM do you see boost from a standing start? My F450 does not show any boost pressure until about 1800 rpm. Also, I don't hear any turbo noise like I remember hearing when the truck was new. Truck now has 9,800 miles on it. Possibly small turbo not working?
Depends, mine seems very responsive, Uphill pull on the motor Boost happens quickly about 750-1000 r's Downhill coast, no pull on the engine somewhere around 1500-1800 before I see any boost.
From a stop and hammered, boost kick's at about 5 mph, very early in the r's, I was holding on not lookin at much more than the road.
I don't remember exactly where the boost started on the 08 450 4x4 ambulance at the other station started, but I do remember that from a standing start I could mat the pedal and count.
It was like 1...nothing's happening, 1.5... We're rolling a little, 2...Goodbye!
I know for a fact that I've layed rubber from the duals more than once.
I have an 08 6.4L and am having problems with power and mileage. When truck had 3000 miles on it I towed my trailer out to Ca and averaged 8.4 mpg and wasn't too bad on power. I had my oil changed in Las Vegas at a Ford dealer and noticed that it didn't feel like it ran as good. I went on to Ca and the mileage dropped down to 7 mpg. On the trip back home the truck lost all of its low end torque as it doesn't make any power below 2300-2400 rpm. When I got back the dealer said it melted the catalytic converters out and they were plugging up the exhaust. They installed a new exhaust system and it didn't change a thing, so they pulled the cab off the chassis and replaced the turbo. I left for another trip to Ca and it still ran the same with no low end power. The mileage now with the trailer averaged 5.6 for the 4500 mile trip. The trailer I am pulling is 10,000 lbs. The truck has been reflashed at least 5 times now. The last time it was at the dealer Ford told them it had the wrong oil in it, so they changed the oil and reprogramed it again. i to a trip to Wis and it got 5.05 for mileage and still had a low end power issue. I have run the truck on a chassis dyno and @ 2000 rpm it is only making 180ft lbs tq. I am at a loss as what to do next. I like everything else about the truck
