Backup Lamp Output wire

Does anyone know the color wire (or even where it's located since I obviously have the wrong one) for the Backup Lamp Output? I'm looking for the wire under the dash so I can tap my radio into it, that way it automatically switches to the backup camera when the transmission is in reverse.

According to my manual, it's "supposed" to be a Black/Pink wire, but when I tap into it, nothing happens in reverse. Instead the door chime dings constantly when the driver's door is open, regardless of whether or not there is a key in the ignition. So, apparently I found the door chime. It's also the only black/pink wire I found, and I thought it was the transmission range sensor harness that I tapped from.

Need the wire color ASAP, help please

The wire you taped is for the key in sensor, the reverse wire should be on the transmission

Yeah I found that after looking at the wiring that I tapped into the key in sensor wire. Doh! I'm an idiot. Figured I was looking at the wrong harness. That's what I get for not looking at the overview. However I did find another harness by the PCM (engine side) that has the reverse wire (which is Black/Pink), so I'll tap into that one and see if it works. According to the diagram, it runs straight back to the rear of the truck.

First, lunch.

the wire that runs from the fuse box to the trailer tow back up lamp is blk/light green. at least on a 2001 it is, i know the fuse boxes changed in 2002.

I’m about to install a pioneer AVIC-Z2 on my 2006 F-350. The speed sensor wire is strait up, I’ll need to look for the back up light wire.

Kenwood DNX7100, JL 10w3 sub, Kenwood amp, and DiPricol Optix gauges, all at once. LOL

I did get everything finished just a little while ago and went out for a test drive. So far everything is a go.

The backup lamp wire that I tapped into was located on a wiring harness that sits on the driver's side fenderwell/wheel well. My manual doesn't even show that particular harness to exist, so I guess it's different on the '02 models compared to the 99-01's (my manual is for 99). All I had to do was run the wire from the Kenwood out through the firewall access port and tap right into the wire. It's a black wire with a pink trace, and that wire from the harness runs all the way back to the rear of the truck, where it splits to the two backup lamps.

I’m about to install a pioneer AVIC-Z2 on my 2006 F-350.
Probably going to be a lot easier than installing a DDin unit on a 2002. I had to fabricate my own mounting setup. Wasn't too hard to do, but I did have to cut the plastic lip that's tucked up under the factory radio mount. The bad part was I wasn't paying attention and my dremel too slipped and knicked the dash just a bit. It's in a spot where everyone can see it now. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Any time I do something to my truck, there's always one thing that goes wrong.

I have that same wire also, but on my truck it's not hot until you plug a trailer up to it. Otherwise it's not grounded. I checked with a multimeter and it's dead, but hook my trailer up and it works. (that was the first wire I checked for the backup camera install)

The reverse light wire is a black wire with pink stripe in the wiring harness at the drivers side kick panel (close to the parking brake assembly).

That's the one I originally tapped into on my truck and it turned out to be the key in ignition indicator wire. That's the only bk/pk wire under the dash. The bk/pk wire under the hood is the one for the backup lamps.

They must have changed the wiring some on the 05 and newer.

On my 05, I disconnected my Key in ignition indicator wire in the harness directly under the steering column which is a black/pink wire and I use the black/pink wire by the parking brake for my Pioneer D3 reverse input and it works perfect.

That would definately be something Ford would do. My 02 is different than the 99-01 trucks.

For the 05-07 trucks the reverse wire is the black wire with pink trace on the lower passenger side of the fuse panel beneath the steering wheel. It is in the same plug as the larger gauge yellow and orange wires. Here is a picture of it with my backup camera wire tapped into it and taped off.
