Well now that the old black beast is on the lot to be sold, I now have to start getting the new truck ready to last me another 200k. In the old truck I had pyro and trany gauges. The new truck is a manual so as far as I know I should not need a trany temp. I of course am putting in a new pyro. but do I put in a boost
At the same time? What does a boost gauge tell me? if Im not running any thing to wild do I realy need one?
I really only use the truck as a work vehicle/dayly driver. I pull trailers on the mountains some but I,m no speed demon.
The boost gauge isn't a "keep alive" gauge other than for your turbo if your pushing 30 psi or above. But it is a very nice gauge to have to gauge your truck efficency. If you see low boost can check for exhaust and intake leaks. Also a good indicator of problems if you have high EGT's really good to know boost number to diagnose. Plus its a cheap gauge. I would put on it.
You know it! but at least I have fun hauling the hay with the truck. in fact if it wenr for the horses I might not own a PSD I might still be driving my OBS f-150
Thanks for the in put guys! this form has so much good info!
Towing with a boost gauge is very helpful. I found that in my truck if I keep the boost between 15-20 psi the egts are managable when pulling hills. Sure I can get 30+ psi but the egts shoot up past anything safe
Where is the best place to get the 3 gauge cluster that mounts on the A pillar. How hard are they to install a wire. I am pretty dumb in this area so can anyone put it in Laymans terms?
