Body side cladding

I've seen people on here mention removing the body side molding on their X's....
Is this something thats easily done? Will I need to fill in holes where the cladding attached to the body panels?

Thanx for you help... I have a rear panel thats coming loose on the rear door and the previous owner just taped it with black duck tape...

If I can tear all the molding off, I will....

I had the molding around my rear wheel well coming loose at the *** end and curling out. When I asked at the shop what could be done about it, and they said they could stick it down with double sided tape. I was surprised to find out thats all that holds it on. The first time it didn't hold and the second time they took the whole piece off and heated the curled part to shape it back to the fender and replaced it with double sided tape and its holding good so far.

All the side cladding is simply held on with tape. Very sticky tape. Well...not so sticky in Benjoman's case.

If you can remove it without damaging it, I'll buy it off you.

What width double sided tape is used to hold on the cladding? I have a piece coming loose and I want to stick it back down. Some genuis used glue which has come loose. I need to carefully scrape that off and then use the tape to get the cladding stuck back on.

What would be the best way to get those panels off? Heat gun? I know there would be a risk of warping or damaging the plastic...would a hair dryer work?

oops! or goof off may work and 3m sells an adhesive remover. Ace sells one too, but don't use it; it is more like a paste and verrrrrrrry harsh. keep a water hose handy and once you remove the glue rinse it good. Some of those chemicals if left on will remove paint. Oh and put a piece of foam or cardboard between the vehicle and whatever you are prying with. It is easier with 2 people so that one can keep steady pressure while the other removes the adhesive.

Can you not use fishing line behind it to cut through the tape?
