fuel filter

Does anyone have any links showing how to change a fuel filter on a 2003 f150 with a 5.4L? I bought one and was wondering if there were any tricks in doing this.
Thanks for the comments

You need a special tool to release the quick connect lines from the filter. You can pick up a package of different size tools from any auto parts store. Place the tool around the line. Slip the tool into the connector on the fuel line, pushing the tool and the line towards the fuel filter. Hold the toll in and pull the line off. Good luck!

I went to CarQuest, but they didn't have any tools for the filter. I bought a filter there though and 2 plastic pieces came with it. The guy there said just to use a very small flat head screwdriver to take it off. They just gave the plastic pieces just in case the ones on the fuel line break off. Otherwise you can use the original ones on there. Does this guy sound right at CarQuest or should I go somewhere else to get the disasembly tool?

I would try a different auto parts store for the tool. I know that Autozone carries them. I would expect that Carquest would too but maybe I'm wrong about them.

I would recommend against doing it without the tool as there are three hooks that hold the filter in place and one flat head screw driver could be challenging and damage it, then your into big bucks, good luck with it I got my tool at a Napa store, good luck with it,

yeah just go to autozone and ask for the tool to disconnect fuel lines and they should be able to help you

the screw driver is to remove the two plastic external clamps. you need the slip on tools the guys are talking about to slide over the gas line, into the filter tube and relieve the internal ears or "teeth".
