Hi all.. I have an 02 4x4 with the 4.6 motor.. i noticed at idle i can hear the fan clutch engageing/disengaging all the time.. it doesnt matter if the motor is cold or hot... when im driving around i can hear the fan clutch rev up and down with the rpms of the truck..its not loud but noticeable. Im wondering if this could be causing my motor vibration between 1600-1900 rpm
Hey Chris, it may not help but I've got a 98' Flareside without A/C(Sucks Butt!!!!) And mine does the samething. The temp gauge shows fine and the fluid is okay, but it still does it. I haven't noticed any vibration in mine. May not help much but at least you don't have to feel like the lone ranger!
I doubt that it's your fan clutch causing the vibration.
You can remove the clutch and fan and drive it. In stop and go traffic watch your temp gauge. But so long as you are moving - you should be fine.
How much vibration are you having? My fan is pretty quite but I am thinking about pulling it and installing the electric fan just for the performance improvement.
Everytime the rpms of the motor get around 1700-1800 i feel a vibration/rumble..i can also hear the fan clutch engaging everytime i accelerate..something aint right.
