I was under my truck today (see sig.. it has 13k on it) and noticed one of the bolts connecting the rear spring shackle to the shackle mount had somehow worked loose and the nut had spun almost the whole way off. I tightened it, and checked the others...seemed to be ok. Don't know this could have happened....but wouldn't that have been just super!?!? Damn thing must have been built on a Friday
I hope your not serious, I work at a Ford plant. There is no such vehicle "built on a Friday". Depending on what model of vehicle, it could take up to 26 hours for a unit to be built completely, from body build to final inspection. So it's only possible to only have a portion or the vehicle built on a Friday not thehole vehicle. Sorry to rant but I hear this term alot and I have to inform them of how cars and trucks are built.
what if that vehicle that took 26 hours to buid was built 8 hours that friday, the last 3 hours of which the factory workers were getting jittery in their pants to leave and waaalaaa you have loose bolts
sorry just had to say there are way too many possibilities, maybe the guy with the torque wrench just fell asleep that day, or maybe the nut was defective

It's just a saying anyway. I doubt that people really think that vehicles are made in one eight hour day.
However, I know that mine was at least finished on a Friday.
No i wasn't really serious about the built on a Friday thing. But it's still not a very impressive thing to find. Makes me wonder what else is falling apart?? Don't get me wrong... I really like the Ford Super Duty... the one I have now is my 4th. I really can't figure how it came loose. The bolt had enough tension on it with the weight of the truck that it wouldn't even turn; even with the nut almost off, and the nut has one of those locking tabs on it so you don't have to hold the bolt head and the nut while tightening. Who knows? Just glad I caught it.
Stuff vibrates loose. If you ever worked for a military contractor, you know about the 60Hz vibration test and I forget the other one but it is a huge hammer slamming the box.
It is actually a bit surprising that more stuff doesn't fall off our vehicles. A moving vehicle is a terrible environment with lots of hammering, constant vibration and dirt, water etc.
I highly recommend a 10 minute crawl around under your truck whenever you change the oil. Grab and shake everything. Take a good look with a strong light. You will be surprised how often you will find loose stuff to tighten up.
