Lowering rear suspension

Does anybody out there have hands on experience lowering their rear suspension on their van. I have a 1989 E-250 and would like to lower the rear 2". I read somewhere that the shackles made for the pick-ups work for the vans as well so I purchased a set of Belltech 6425 lowering shackles. Well, they don't fit and now I was wondering if anyone else has had any success lowering their rear suspension using the shackle method. I don't want to remove a leaf or otherwise modify the springs, I really would like to be able to accomplish this with the shackles. It seems easy enough I just haven't been able to find a shackle that fits. I would appreciate any suggestions? Thanks.

Most people are a little obsessed with raising the front of the van by 2" so they can fit larger tires under it, and here you are wanting to lower yours. I would say to go to your local spring shop and ask them. The stock shackles already point up so you might run into a clearance issue.

Oh okay!

I like the new ride height only because it lowers the cargo deck and would be easier to enter and exit. Of course ground clearance would be an issue---have to avoid loose coins laying on the road!!

I like the level look. With the 250's and the 350's the heavy springs usually lift the back end a couple inches and I don't care for the look. Also by lowering the rear I am able to park the vehicle in my garage without letting air out of the rear tires.
