Hey Guy's,, I'm going in the Morning to pull some parts and need to know how to remove the trim Without damage! Can someone tell me how? I have never done it before. Thanks
You need a drywall type knife, and from the inside of the cab cut the rubber all the way around. The gasket fits like a U on the metal You need to cut it like the foot of a Q. Push the windshield out and pull the rubber off the glass and the trim will fall out. DO NOT attempt to remove the trim before removing the gasket from the truck. You will bend the crap out of it if you do.
If the truck is parked you can replace the trimless rubber and glass back in the truck for some protection.
Thank's John, I'm glad I asked because I would have messed it up for sure! I'm going this morning to get all the stuff I want off a 64 F100 For $50. bucks
Including chrome front bumper and bumperetts, all the bright work off the cab,
John, should I get the front axle it's just laying there. the guy is making a home made trailer out of the bed and frame.
As far as the axle goes, that is totally up to you. I am a post I-beam man so the straight axle has little value to me.
Being the junk collector, I think for $50.00 I would take all of the unused parts. You can easily make your $50.00 back along with your gas expenses. IMHO
As you are well aware, 61-66 Ford trucks get hard to find in salvage yards. I would take as much as possible if time and space available to store parts. Window regulator; vent window, may be in poor condition but you may be able to disassemble and use the hinges, or other parts. Rear window, hood, fenders, just to name a few. John explained 'how to' remove the trim, object is to cut the seal/gasket on the inside and push windshield outward without damaging glass or trim. Anyhow, early Sunday morning and had an urge to add my $.02.
Another question is how do you get that chrome strip back on after the new windshield is installed? Ya don't! Had to replace the windshield on my 65 and they forgot the strip. So short of pulling the glass out........ no chrome.

There are two gaskets, one W/O the trim slot and one with. I think if you went to a glass company and they looked at your truck and ordered the wrong part they owe you a change out on them.
A new gasket should still be soft enough to remove it safely since it is a dry fit. My opinion, they made a mistake and should make it good.

Thanks for the info. I was really just trying to be funny. I did buy the correct rubber. In fact it cost more but the guy didn't put the trim in before installing the glass. I let it go because I couldn't wait around any longer. ( I had all ready gone thru Pick a Part and got the rear bumper brakets I needed ) So that was my fault.
I do think the chrome has to go in the rubber before installing the w/s. We ran across this at a dealership I worked in when the body shop forgot to install the mldg and tried to force it in. Customer ended up with a new (again W/S).
Well i removed two set's of chrome trim on the weekend and had no bent chrome at all.It takes a lot of patience and screw drivers and a pick too get the rail at the end of the trim out and then slowly pull and pry it out.I used lots of WD-40 and it sure came out nice once you get it started. But you have too be real easy on it and TAKE your time, don't rush it or you will bend it up.
