I have an 88 F-150 with a 300 in it. Motor had to be rubuilt some time ago. Lately I have been having to take my plugs out and clean then every few months or so. Naturaly some are dirtier than others. What could be causeing this?
Here is a pic of my #6 cylinder. this one was really bad!! So much so it caused missfires at idle.
You are burning some oil man!!! Did the head get redone or just the cylinders or did
the whole thing get done supposedly? Do you trust the mechanic who did it? I think
something didn't get done, You could have either blowby from the rings or leak down
from the valves. Try running some hotter range plugs and make sure your fuel filter is
clean actually get a new one and cut open the old one after it has dried out. If you
see alot of gunk you may need to drop the tank and clean it out!! If it is dirt that is
fouling out the plugs you lucked out!!
