Ok had my engine and tranny out of my truck. Just reassembled and my Transmission won't get out of Reverse. It seems like it's shifting properly but every gear R N 2 1 are reverse. The lever on the C6 seems to be rotating just fine. There is vacuum to the C6.
I will check the linkage again but this is the first place I started. I tried a variety of position on the linkage adjustment. This changed the tranny lever position considerably and through several iterations I believe covered the entire sweeping angle of the tranny input. It basically doesn't feel like it's ever shifting out of reverse.
I'm wondering if it's internal but it seems to me that concidering it worked properly before I disasembled the truck it should work properly now.
Does the tranny cooler lines that go to the bottom of the radiator need to be bleed?
I wish I knew more about fords, I am just learning. But I am a good mechaninc on others. It could be you might have the linkage 180 degrees out on the tranny. But I doubt you took the tranny linkage off, so that is probably not the problem. All you can try to do is bleed the system, check vacume lines, and re-check linkage again, and for God's sakes be careful climbing around under the truck trying to get it into gear by hand. Make sure you have wheels blocked, chocked, and e-brake on firmly. Better yet would have the drive wheels on jack-stands and front wheels chocked.
