Tailgate Handle Adjustment

Recently put a 2010 tailgate on my 05 F250

When I pull the handle to open the tailgate, it gets all the way to the end of it's travel and doesn't release the latches. You need to sort of pull it quickly and pop it to get it to open, or usually you need to press the tailgate in and pull simultaneously

How do you adjust this? Do you have to tighten up the tailgate latch rods on the handle assembly? Or do you have to adjust something else

Thanks

yes, you have to tighten the rods that attach to the handle inside the tailgate. Remove the cover panel from the inside of the tail gate to access the rods.

You should be able to unclip the rods from the handle and screw the adjuster to "shorten" the rods. take equal amount off each side.
