Turn off auto door UNlock feature?

Forgive me if this is redundant, but I don't know what to call this "feature" so I wasn't able to figure out what to search for... I already turned off the autolock feature, but that doesn't disable the feature that automatically unlocks the door when you press the lock button on the door panel to prevent you from locking your keys in the vehicle. Is there a way to do this? Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

If you read in the manual it will tell you to call 1800-FORD-Key to ask how to enable/disable these advanced features. But I called them and they were really bad, very poor customer service. So I called the dealership where I bought the truck and spoke to someone in service and they gave me step by step instructions for what I wanted. Which was to enable the auto unlock feature when you turn off the ignition. So I am sure you could do the same thing.

I haven't heard of a way to bypass that particular feature. I know a lot of cars are like that. My brothers old honda civic needed the key to lock the doors. I thought that was pretty annoying. Good luck and definitely let us know.

Still hoping someone out here might know of a way to turn that irritating feature off... I mean, I know I could just get out the BFH, but the truck is relatively new to me so I'd hate to take that kind of approach to an '06 with 29k on it.

As far as I've been able to determine (and I am one of "those" guys that read the entire manual) Ford doesn't offer a way to do what you want. As you know, you can disable the auto lock when moving 5 MPH or greater feature but I've not seen anything that would override or turn off the "lock when you puch the button if the key is in the ignition" feature. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

GroundhogCK - I installed a toggle swith in the dash so I could turn off my interior lights when desired (GM uses this approach). Works great and pretty easy to do but after 3 years I don't remember what wire I tapped, perhaps someone else on the forum can provide that answer.

Not a direct answer to your question, but you know you can lock the doors while the truck is running using your keypad. Just close the door and push the two rightmost keys simult. That's what I do when I want to leave it idling while locked.

You can lock all the doors when the truck is running by using the passenger door. Works with my 07 anyways.

Ha, if that's true that has to be the dumbest thing ever. So, you leave your keys in the truck and your kid/wife locks the door on the passenger side, and presto you're locked out. WTF!!!

Yup that's what would happen. I have the keypad on the drivers side though. When I am warming up my truck in the driveway on real cold mornings, I lock the doors with the passenger door and then re-enter with the keypad.

Do you know you can push the last two buttons on the keypad at the same time to lock them?

You could manually push the lock down!? I know what you mean, but it isn't a big deal to get around.
