Safety Switch

I put two subs and an amp in my truck back in August and had Best Buy hook everything up. Everything was cool until all of a sudden my subs shut off, so I shut off my truck and turn it back on and all is cool. So it does this over and over. It turns out they put in a safety thing where if it gets too loud, it shuts the subs off. Is there any way to take this off? I don't even know what it is, and am hoping that one of you guys do. Thanks.

Possibly the amp is overheating?

Like Thom_s mentioned, most amps have a protect mode they can go into where they will stop producing sound. This can be caused by overheating or clipping of the signal. It is not caused by how load the volume is getting (at least not in terms of dB). Since you said it started happening all of the sudden I am going to say that something is wrong. Most likely one of the wires is starting to come loose and it isn't making a good connection. You can check for that yourself, or just take the vehicle back to Best Buy. They have a lifetime warranty on install work, so if that is your problem they should fix it for free.
