We may have a damaged Steering Box now, however I won't know til we remove everything. Ford has a new box for $280 plus core. Is there anyone that makes a box that is bit stronger then our factory one but not outrageously expensive?
Friend told me to check PSC Power Sports however they don't make any for 2004 F250.
I'd like a better alternative to the factory box if it is indeed damaged.
I have an AGR on my 97, its ok, but I would say it is not the best out there, PSC is good too, but if you want the BEST, Howe Performance is the only way to go. Howe is where many competition crawlers and buggy builders get their stuff, as well as many SCORE race teams. I don't know about price, but some things are worth being spendy on.
shoot storm. More bad luck. Time to trade up to the 08...just kidding.
Well we aren't 100% sure yet, wont know til we pull everything.. However the Factory Steering box is very weak and tends to get trashed fast with lifts.. So if I'm going to end up with a bad box that has to be replaced, I'd rather just spend the money on a decent box that can withstand the abuse.. I can get the factory for $280, was hoping to find a good aftermarket in the $300-$450 range that would be built up better for trucks that are lifted...
Pretty much... I have so much play in the wheel.. But again we don't know if the box is gone.. Lot of the play is due to the Pitman sitting at the bottom of the shaft.. Once we get the new parts in we'll recheck the box..
I've looked but not having much luck on better gear boxes.. Anyone?
Nope but the rest of my truck does.. I don't really care about my warranty anymore..
I ment if it still under warrenty why not just let Ford replace it now and then worry about it when and if it goes out again? I know you won't be able to fend off the lure of a new truck forever.
Drive the truck down the road and turn the wheel. If it keeps going straight then it's trash.
so what about if i am going down the road and the truck wanders like im drunk and when i turn the steering wheel its like a delayed reaction then it jerks back over.
