Gas tanks

I've got a 2000 F-150, gas truck. After finding out that there are replacement and auxiliary tanks available that are higher in capacity than the stock tanks, I was looking into getting one. Would be nice to not have to fill up so often, ya know? Anyhow, looking into a couple of places, it looks like they don't make any higher capacity replacement tank or auxiliary tank for my truck. Mainly just diesel trucks and later models. These same places say they could custom make any tank, but apparently that's not the case. They both tell me they can't make me a tank for my truck. WTF?

Does anyone know where I could find a larger replacement tank or aux. tank for my 2000 gas F-150?

TIA

Wonder why Ford did away with the "dual gas tank" option for it's newer trucks. I sure miss the good old days where I could fill up both tanks and cruise up and down the highway without frequent stops for fill-up.

I usually only fill up when I'm about 1/4 empty. Somewhere I heard it's bad on the engine or something to run your vehicle to pretty much empty. Anyhow, at about 1/4 tank left, I've gone about 270 miles. I've never tried seeing how far I can go til I'm completely empty. Maybe one of these days. I usually fill up once a week, sometimes just over a week.

I guess I should mention I've got a Superchips tuner and am running it on the performance mode. Plus, I have 33" tires and a 7 1/2" suspension lift, so I guess I'm not gas-conservative anyways. LOL

I run my tank low all the time. Yes its not good to run it dry, but as long as the pump is getting gas is wont hurt anything. I run mine low, that way crap doesnt build up in the tank.

I always thought that most folks that get trucks aren't really that concerned about being gas-conomical anyways.... but nowadays with the gas prices as high as they are and still going up, OUCH! Oh well, I still love my truck.

Hmm,, never thought of it that way as far as letting crap building up. But the thought of running outta gas in gawd-knows-where has weighed more heavily on me mind. I live near some not so nice areas.
