my two car garage aint no shop and its a disaster most of the time . but if ya move something i'll never find it again . i dont understand organization . what is it ? some new disease goin' 'round ?
For the time being I'm working out of the house garage(It's a little more cluttered now).
This is my shop 24x24 with a 12x15 office and all the truck parts, Tools and equipment. I'm in the process of adding another 24x24 to it so i don't have to walk so far when i forget a tool.
On a side note about the car dollies, I got a set, but as Roger knows I live on a VERY STEEP hill and it's paved. So if a vehicle gets to rolling too well, I'm ruined!! It can roll down about 150 foot hill to the highway!!
Wishful thinking, that it would STOP at the highway!! Someplace in the next county, I would think, that is, if it went over the bridge!
That's why I don't want my dollies to be too free rolling, I also don't want to be chasing it around the garage as I work on it sanding etc.
No problem...just place a little grit on the floor in front of the dollies and you're home free. When ready to move again bring out the shop vac and your in business.
Truxx - I will have to put some thought into your idea of the open area above the lift. I was also planning on installing a rolling hoist in the other bay so some additional height would be good. I also need at least a 10' door to get my superduty (with ATV loaded) inside the garage so then I would have at least a 12' ceiling height.
Just as you guys say that no one has ever complained about making their garage to big, has anyone ever heard someone say that the ceiling was too high???? Just a thought

This is the corner of the garage where the wife lets me keep my toys. I think it is 24,000 sq ft. How do you like my 3 ton engine hoist? We actually use it as a vehicle storage buisiness. There are two F-7's, a VW thing behind the restored F-7, and whats left of a 1930 Ford AA Tow truck. Another AA truck is on the way. I have added a gallery with a few more pics of my shop. With a pair of F-7's and soon a pair of Ford AA trucks, size matters.

John

NNY

Are we done this one already.....I was hoping to disect all the good ideas outta everyone on here. Shops, tools, junk yards and old trucks........Maybe I got another idea. "Best Junk Yard Find".....gonna see what shakes loose here.
Ok, here's a couple of picks of my overstuffed, cluttered garage. Its an attached 2 car garage. I have to do at least 30 minutes of the infamous "crap shuffle" before I can actually do any work
Hey Bobby, it's about time!!!! We thought you forgot about us! Anyway I dig the Coca Cola sign hangin up in the background! I also dig the Miller welder I see by your Harley. One thing about Miller makes the best welders in my opinion! When I get ready to weld in my shop it's Miller Time!! I love my big Millermatic 250! I also have a Miller TIG, and a Miller plasma cutter!! If I can get it up the BIG hill and into my shop, it's definately got a chance to get done! Of course that also depends on time and money too, but you get the picture. I love your truck! My little bro is lookin at one right now! Are you goin to paint it?
Thanks, In the back corner behind the truck is my 60 Gal air compressor, drill press, and the obligatory big red Snap-On box. The favorite and most used tool in the shop? that would have to be the old Pepsi machine by the bench. Its a heck of a deal, you can get a frosty long neck for a mere 15 cents! (I think I'm losing money)
I love my Miller! Its just a small Millermatic 135, 110v but it will do anything I need it for. If I need big stuff welded I go over to my buddy's fabrication shop and I have access to the big welders, Ironworkers (punches), shears, etc (and most important...scrap bin and drop pile)
....someday.....I want to build me a shop out in the backyard for my stuff. Then I would be able to use the garage as a garage (maybe the wife could park a car in there too...lol).......someday........I have to remodel my kitchen first

BOY, Bobby, I hear ya there. I'm using my 24x24 garage for my shop, built my 36x44 shop into a house, getting rid of the mobile home, and will eventually build the real house....in about 30 years. Then I can park the cars in the 24x24, build my projects in the 36x44, and live in the real house where the trailer used to be. Options, gotta have options, lol.
After this thread, I am definatly suffering from tool envy. Time to do more shopping.

Must of had the same affect on me....I just bought a 3-in-1 metal forming machine (Shear/break/roller)...just about took out my back when I was unloading it (weight is 308 lbs) and I just ordered 100 clecos, pliers, and some clamps from an aviation tool supplier and for the life of me I don't know why I would need 100 Clecos but a 0.43 each how could I go wrong.....If the wife asks....I've had those for ever, right?
