Well, it worked, Terry!! Your computer is safe (for now!!)

Here's my shop when I was building it - 28 X 40...check out the bathroom!!

Building it

You can see a little of it, at:

My Shop

It now has a mig welder, finally!! And, it's a little bit cleaner, I can get around the truck...

I do like the chop saw setup. One of the best purchases I have made lately is a metal blade from Bullit Industries for mine. Cuts like crazy and NO black grit everywhere. I will give posting a shop picture a try tomorrow.

Unhappy

havi, That reminds me of why my dad moved us to Ca. in the 50's. I remember getting an icicle like in your window right through my tongue one winter.

I see youv'e added a parts washer on the wall next to the can. Smart thinking, no time waisted while taking care if buisiness. You can still degrease carbs and stuff while you are on the throne.

Shop? What is that?

I do have a small garage at my house (IN TOWN!!! ), but I can't get away with doing body work there. The neighbors don't like beating, banging, grinding, or other noise. Plus there is no way I can get away with spraying paint there.

Right now my shop is:

Never ever buy a house in town if your hobbies include old vehicles! Live and learn.....

I like Havi's shop - Plenty of room and fresh air ventilation. Mine is a 1 car garage and I think that 1 car it was designed around was a Ford Fiesta. Anyway my truck does fit with enough room to walk around it (if I walk sideways) My lighting comes from one poorly located GE light bulb. (I invested in a good flashlight). At least my truck gets the garage - the daily drivers have to suffer the North Dakota winter outside.

Brian_B, I graduated from Gainesville Mo. just a few miles north of you, in "83", seems like yesterday. I used to go to Mountain Home for the movies and stuff. Anyways, my father and brother have a custom rod shop in Gainesville and they reproduce some parts for our trucks and or totally redo vehicles, if you need any help you might check them out. I'm back that way about once a year, maybe we can hook up for a meet and greet. My 92 flareside, from my signature is there, if you stop by they might uncover it for you, maybe then they could do some work on it. You know, customers first, family when we get a chance, of course its cheaper for me.

Interesting.....Since you graduated so many years before I did (2!!!), it is possible we have met at one point in time. 83 and 85 are not that far apart.

PM me the shop info and I might stop in one day. I can't afford to pay anyone to work on mine, but it would be cool to meet people who know what they are doing.

Check out the Southbend Lathe to the left of the chopsaw. At first I thought it was a 13" but looking at the chip tray it must be either a 14 1/2" or a 16". Which is it Terry? I have a 13" Southbend and a companion Bridgeport mill but my shop is not nicely organized like Terry's. I built my shop 14 years ago and it is due for a repaint.

EDIT
Looking further at the gallery am I seeing the left side of a Bridgeport table (power table) in the pic with the air compressor?

It's a 16" South Bend! 1944 model and the mill is a Cincinnati Toolmaster 1959 model. That's when they built them to last a lifetime!! (or two) I got some pics of the lathe and mill, but I didn't get them loaded onto the gallery yet. SOON I hope. I have to depend on my wife or my buddy to put this stuff on here. I get mad at it!! I can do almost anything to a truck, but I'm not real computer literate??
