Front Spindles
Could use some suggestions here. The dust shields on my 94 F140 SC with 4WD are rotted out. The left side is so bad that a portion of it folded up and was rubbing on the back of the rotor. Coincidently, the brake caliper on that wheel hung up the same day as well. So I've ordered new dust shields from Broncograveyard and have been trying to get the old ones off. I'm only working on the left side now so that I've got the right side to refer to when I put the manual locking hubs back together. In any event, spent a day wrestling with the Spindle nuts as the spindle must come off to get the shields out. Finally got the nuts off this afternoon after breaking a craftsman socket. They were pretty corroded and had a lot of brake dust caked on them. It was like concrete. In any event, I'm about ready to stand up and do a jig and guess what. The spindle is rusted on. I've doused it in PB blaster now and am letting it sit. Tried a couple of whacks with a rubber mallet but no joy. So tomorrow I'm going to see if I can get a drum puller to grab it and pull it off. The other option is to try and drive a screwdriver or chisel in between the spindle and the "knuckle". Anybody got any other ideas?

Don't try to wedge a screwdriver or chisel behind the spindle, you will not do anything other than ruin the spindle and the knuckle, by messing up the two surfaces where they meet, and you will end up buying all new parts, that would be a real bummer.
ORR.. use a brass hammer, and hit IN BETWEEN the bearing surface.
first on top, then on the bottom. once theres a tiny bit of room..slide a thin blade driver in, and hit it from the opposite side.
