Hard to start when cold
I've 2000 F-150 4X4 S/C 5.4L 7700 (300,000 km) It runs very nice, bad on gas (combined city/hwy 13 mpg). Every morning I've really to put starter to work, it start & dies over & over!!!! But I don't have any starting problem when the the temp is worm. The check engine lite came on 2 weeks ago & reads PL4151, could canister control valve effect cold start?

If you hold the gas pedal down a little when you crank the engine over, does it start easier? If so, then I would suspect a bad IAC valve.
I don't know that the EVAP system would cause the truck to be hard to start. Some other more knowledgeable FTE users will be along soon to help out. Good luck!

"PL4151" is NOT a valid fault code.
KRM is probably on track suspecting the IAC. It's a really common failure item.
Also, if you're running high octane fuel, it can also cause hard starts due to its lower volatility.

Thanks and sorry the code is P1451. Last week I cleaned the throttle body & IAC with throttle body cleaner and the problem was fix. Believe it or not, the gas mileage went up from 13 mpg to 15.5 mpg. I'm relly glad, because winter is here! Now, my ABS lite is on, the code I'm getting are C1230, C1229, C1214, C1096 & C1095. The easy part is to replace rear ABS sensor, but the pump will be the hard part! Is there anything I can do or to repair?
