ok just read a few lines of it. the thread is to discuss the good of an IC which I agree with or I wouldn't have one but it doesn't really speak to the HP ratio with fuel. More fuel requires more air but the same size IC won't make any HP increases with more fuel added to the mix. So lets say you add an IC to a stock but chipped truck and gain 25HP in highest setting. I then you add stage 1's with programming. The HP gain fromt he IC won't compound. You will gain power from the fuel added but as you raise fuel input, EGT's go up as well as boost. More EGT's (heat transfer to cold side of turbo) and raise boost (turbo out of effective range and compression of air creates heat) you intake temps go up but the IC can still only remove so much heat.
So I do agree an IC will add power and make the power more useable and IC itself won't make more power with stage 1's compared to stock stick evne though you will have more power its not because of the IC.
Glass it looks we are talking two different things. My first post about an IC I just said that unless he had EGT's problems an IC wasn't really needed. it will gain some power but not enough to offset the lag that will be present on a stock truck. We don't even know if the OP has a chip.

yeah i think we are talking about 2 totally different things hahaha but yes i do agree that with a stock truck an IC would be pointless if he doesn't have EGT probs... i'm just saying with lots of fuel mods you SHOULD get one
ok ok. geez :-P i want to get one because i do hope to chip it and etc later on. i was told i should get one just to avoid higher egts and the like when i do mod it out. but another thing, is modding a 341k 12yo gonna be a bad idea? i mean it is my daily driver and all...
first off, i had talked with luke on intercoolers a while ago, he said on his truck it was a 100 hp difference when running big mods. (at least i think it was luke, him or beans)
anyway, on my truck i felt absolutly 0 difference in horsepower. plain as that. just lost 3-4 psi boost and probably alot of egt drop, i beleive its good for 150 degrees or so. also if you are looking to drop egt's then gut your exhaust backpressure valve, thats good for another 50 or so. as for modding a high miles truck? over 230k and counting. granted its not 340 but i'm only 100k off

exhause back pressure valve? where is it and how do i kill it?
hmmm just noticed the 12mpg part, thats really low for your truck. what gears do you have? i run bfg 315\75\16's on 4.10's and got 15 towing my mother-in-laws mercury villager over 340 miles last night. unloaded i have been hovering around the 18 mark.
did you reprogram your odometer with the tire change?
the ebpv is right at the outlet of your turbo, it has a 1\4 inch rod sticking out of the turbo mount going to a hinge on the exhaust pipe, there are 3 12 point bolts holding the housing to the turbo. drop the down pipe off, remove those 3 bolts and the whole piece falls off, remove the butterfly valve and install 2 freeze plugs in its place, then just bolt the empty housing back on. i cant remeber the plug size, somebody will chime in

No idea about gearing. I believe that it is stock but cant say for sure. same for the odo setting
it either has 3.55's or 4.10's, as for the odometer setting, its probably wrong. so you are probably getting better mileage then you think if you are going based off of the odometer when you fill up. i will try to post the page you need to follow tomarow nite, or if somebody else can post it quicker by all means
