Hi there all. Have searched a lot of IAC threads (99 Explorer 4.0L) and can't see if new O ring or gasket is needed. My replacement IAC didn't come with either.
Stupid me, I used some blue tube gasket maker, now it's sucking air and reving up and down at idle.
Yes it needs a gasket and should have come with one. Did you get it from Ford or aftermarket? How long ago was this? Could be you need to buy it seperately, I'm not sure though. Call the place you got it from and ask. You will need that gasket. You'll have to take off the IAC, clean it up real good and re-install with gasket.
Thanks Backin72, I bought it through Ford two days ago. I live a fair piece outside of town so going back in wasn't an option. I just now went outside and wrapped the mating surfaces in electrical tape. I'm outta town for four days and hope that will keep: my wife will have the truck until then and I'll hear about it if it doesn't.
BTW thanks to the forum members for all the useful info!!
