I got my new IAC valve from NAPA today (it took a week - had to special order). I just noticed the gasket that came with the new IAC does not match the OEM gasket that came off with the old IAC. On the old one the 2 openings are diamond shaped just like the openings on the valve. The new gasket holes are circular.
Does this matter? This seems more restrictive for air flow. Do I need to cut the new gasket to match the old, or is this a new improved design and I should install it as is???
I can't reuse the original gasket because it tore.
Would it be better to cut out the ports in the new gasket so they are the same size and shape as the ports on the IAC or do I leave them circular.
