Skandocious's (Chris) carpet kit in the bed
Its got me curious. I saw the pics in the other post. Obviously it was fine with the cap on. You took your cap off. Did those benches come out too? Was the carpet on the bed floor taken out at the same time? What does your bed look like now? Is it easy to take in/out?
Would you ever put "crap" in there with it? (Firewood, etc).
I'd like to see some before/after pics if you have some. Its got me curious and I'm thinking it wouldn't be that hard or expensive to build that with some plywood, foam, and vinyl.

Yep when I took the cap off the carpet came out too. The beauty of that kit is that the whole thing comes out in about 2 minutes, there's no bolts or attachment screws and its only 5 pieces: the two side benches, two flat cross pieces for the center, and a headboard against the head of the bed. I have the originial brochure that the PO got when he bought the kit and the main selling point was that you could have it out in less than a minute (I'll scan that brocure right now). I didn't put dirty stuff back there with the carpet because, why make it dirty when it's so easy to just take it out?
Unfortunately I don't very many pictures of it, and because it's at my moms house I can't take more, but I'll give you what I've got. Basically the idea is that that 2 side benches stay in place (they just slide in, no attachment bolts or anything, they fit like a glove under the bed rails), then the two center pieces slide between the two side benches and lock them to the sides of the bed. You can slide the center pieces in in difference configurations to make different things. Slide them onto the top rails and you can make a bed for sleeping, the size of the whole truck bed (all the top carpet is padded with 1.5"-2" thick foam). Slide the panels in on the floor and you've got a smaller bed with more privacy (sunk down inside the side boxes), or room for storing taller objects. Lastly there are slots in the top rails on the side boxes so you can slide the panels in vertically at angles to make a love seat either at the front or the back of the bed, facing in either direction. One panel is much longer than the other, that one goes on the floor, and the short one gets used as a back rest. Here's the pics that I have:
That's my brother:
You'll notice he's holding up the window with a pipe, the window needed new struts I fixed it.
In these I was actually taking pictures of the bumper but you can sort of see how the carpet kit works:
Oh and there's also storage boxed with hinged lids on the side benches, as well as 4 cup holders in each one.
My bed now? I don't really have a picture of that either, its just naked except for the bedliner. Here's the best I got:

sweet, time to hit the drawing board. wonder if i did these in vinyl & figured out a way to lock them down (from the wind) if i could leave it on all the time like a convertible tonneau cover.
EDIT: love the lady in the pics. "if you buy this, the ladies will always want to be in back with you"
