Before I startedworking/messing with the dash light on the 79 F150, a few of them workeed............. Now I have nothing. Replaced every bulb in the instrument cluser, and then went to the fuse box. Speedometer hasn't worked in the 10 month's that I've had the truck. It's a 79 F150, 400M with a C6, 4x4. I did put a cordless drill on the cable itself and the speedometer worked. The teeth on the gear didn't feel too bad to me. Could it be something in the transfer case, or go for another gear. Also the gas gauge dosen't work............. Anybody bored???? I'm buying! Bob
As for the dash lights, take that assembly back out and look very CLOSELY at all of the copper ribbon...sounds like you've got a break somewhere.
As for the speedo, make sure that the clip on back of the speedometer is fully engaged. Last time I had mine out, I didn't get that clip all the way on, and it worked for a few minutes, then died. Once I took it apart again, I could see where that locking tab needs to be and put it back together more better.
Did the gas gauge ever work? (Is this a recent development?)
Nope the gas gauge hasn't worked since I've owned the truck. Beer has been more than tapped into. Sorry dude.
Bring you're butt............... And I'll do the bbq, and the beer...............
