1990 F150 starting problem
Hello, I have a 1990 F150 that you need to start using a pair of pliers. You turn the key to start, then there is some sort of rod in the column that you grab with a pair of pliers and push this rod towards the dash and the truck starts. Trying to figure out which part is bad and where it might be located. I have had the steering wheel off and took it apart as far as the starter key switch in the column.

It sounds like a broken actuator rod. It goes from the key switch down to the ignition switch that is mounted on the lower part of the steering column. You have to remove the steering wheel and turn indicator mechanism to replace it. I bought one from my local Napa store. I am sure most parts stores would have it.
