smart a$$ let me redirect my question ,maybe not using clearing would be better. i need to turn off my battery symbol, after changing my alternator, battery is charging according to meter.
You still have a problem as there is no need to clear the battery light after changing the alternator that I am aware of. How many volts is the charging system showing. You will have to use a volt meter to get an accurate reading checking at the battery termanals with the truck running.

Calling someone a "smart a$$" and then asking for their help isn't going to get you too far. That's why I'm going to assume you are joking about your "smart a$$" comment.
If you want help, post some details on your vehicle, year, etc. Is it a new battery? Is it a new alternator. Details go along way in helping us, helping you.
And finally, it wasn't the "clearing" word we were commenting about. It's the fact that the poll has 4 of the same choices.
Chill out man, you started a poll by mistake, there just kidding with you, your right this in not the only place to get help, just the best place. now you might want to check your alt, battery, wires, and grounds

Newbie, I concur with the other guys, relax. Luckily you caught me in a good mood as normally I wouldn't reply after being called a derogatory name.

bjkidd2004, according to my manual, there are two scenarios when the light will come on and stay on. Both are listed above. So, you first need to determine if the voltage is steady or increasing and then we can move on to try to pinpoint.
