Can anyone recommend a vendor where I could get a replacement battery tray - mine has rusted away and the battery is being supported by the plastic fender insert.
I've looked in the JC Whitney catalog and all I can find are Chevy ones.
Ok, so I didn't know that the blot holding on the battery clamp was not meant to come totally out. I broke it off by accident. Does the bolt come all the way out from the top of the tray or from the bottom?

Try LMC Truck,Blue Oval Parts,Dennis Carpenters,NPD National Parts Depot.
If you want a factory repro.
Are you talking Full size Ford 80-86. Blue Oval sells them, but I have been collecting them from donor truks (hard to find them not rusted away). They god ones, I sand down then repaint. What I have done is take the 87-91 battery trays w/ the support bar and put them in. They fit directly over the old one and the 2 mounting holes line up perfectly and the tray is on top of the inner fender piece. You just have to make one small hole to mount the support bar. I can post pics if you want

Yes please do post pics, I need a tray for my 86 but I have a 88 Bronco here I'm parting I could take everything from, that would be real helpful
please, post the pics, i'd love to see it, my tray fell apart when i took the fender off, that'd save a lot of time of fabbing up one from scratch (100 is just too much to spend from one of the supply houses)
Here are 2 pics. Not the best, but you can just see the 2 factory bolts. The 87 tray exactly lines up w/ the old tray still in. I just reused the bolts. I had to drill a small hole to mount the support bracket (other photo). The 87 and up battery tray sits on top of the plastic inner fender vs underneath it. I remoevd the dual battery tray set up from a 87 diesel. The other one is almost a mirror of this one. It also lines up w/ the factory holes. I may add the 2nd battery to run the winch I may install. These are not the best pics since the battery is still in (sorry - but it's about 15 degrees outside right now!)
I know - I am on the PA MD border. If you get the battery trays from a 87 and up, remember that some used the slots that used the 2 rods that you clamped the battery holder to, the other style has the little blocks that "squeeze" against the base of the battery as you tighten the bolts (that is that style does not have the 2 rods that come up each side of the battery)
They will both work -its a matter of personal preferemce. I light the ones that have the 2 holes for the rails, so I can use the over the battery hold down. If you see the other one, it looks like the battery is just sitting there because it is hled down at the base of the battery. Looks like you can just pick it up, but its firmly attached
