First post.
I have a 98 Navigator. Both heated seats broke at the same time. When you press the button for the heated seats, the light comes on.
Checked all fuses under dash and they were all fine.
Checked the fuses under the hood and found a 25 amp fused bad. Replaced the fuse. Seats still don't work. Re-checked the 25 amp fuse and it is still good.
What am I missing??? Could it be a bad relay?? The manual I have has a limited couple of pages of wiring diagrams that do not show the heated or power seats.
I suggest you do a continuity check of the heater element, which is embedded in your seat cushions. They are notorious for breaking, due to the flexing when you sit on the seats. If this turns out to be your problem, do a search on this forum for procedures on how to replace the elements. You have to take the seat apart, but its not too bad.
Thanks for the help. I am going to check the voltage at the plug under the seat.
I will check the continuity on the heater element. Both seats broke at the same time. Both heater elements should not be bad at the same time should they??
Like mentioned earlier, check the continuity of the element as well as checking the voltage at the connector for the heater. Our Expedition had to have the drivers side heater element replaced when the truck was only 2 years old, so I could see both sides failing.
