When I got home after work tonight I shut the truck off and the radio didn't turn off when I opened the door! I tried the power windows too and they also continued to work. I pulled the acc. delay relay to get the radio to stop. I plugged it in and out a few times and it was clicking so it isn't stuck I also swapped in another relay from a different position and it didn't help. Looking at the poor wiring diagram I have the generic electronic module GEM controls that relay so I assume this is the problem. I dont know what this part looks like or where it is! I rained all day today so I drove 35miles to work in the rain and 35 home in the rain so I was thinking the gem may be under the hood and possibly go wet? Can anyone help me? Its a 2003 cc sb lariat 6.8l auto 4x4.
383.....first question....do you have any accessories wired into the truck? Especially anything that has a battery? (portable radio, rechargeable flashilight, etc).
The initial problems that you are describing are the exact things that happened to me about 2 months ago with my '06 250cc FX4. I pulled my hair out trying to trace electrical problems through the ford relay/fuse panels both under the dash, and under the hood. I ended up pulling the delay relay out and leaving it out until i could visit a friend of mine who has more experience with this stuff. Turned out I had a bad charger unit for one of my portable radios, and it was back feeding these accessories off the radio battery.
If you don't have any accessories, then i would definitely try chasing open relay circuits.
Also no when I push the lock button on the drivers door every door locks but now the drivers side lock pops back up after a second or two!
This sounds like either the ignition is still thinking the key is in or the driver's door switch is bad. Does your dome light come on and off when you open the driver's door?

Yes the dome light comes on and off when the door is opened and closed. There is no door ajar light on either. The only difference is now when I get out the dome light goes out as soon as I close the door. I believe before the dome light or cargo light or both stayed on for 30 seconds or so?

Also yesterday the radio would have stayed on all night if I wouldn't have pulled the delay relay. I went back out after several hours and it was still on then I pulled the relay.
I was also thinking possibly a bad ignition switch module, but the blower motor does not work when the key is out. The radio, power windows, and wipers continue to operate!

Hope this helps a little!
I put in dual electric fans about 2 months ago but the only wire I spliced into was for the air conditioning switch. But I don't believe it is the problem.
Does any one know where I can get a better wiring schematic than what is in a haynes manual? Ford said a GEM was $205.00 I want to be sure before I go that route.
I was hoping the problem will go away in a couple of days if something got wet!
One more thig the drivers door swithces did get wet the other day going through a fast food drivethrough. Could those swithces getting wet cause all of this?
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!! Turned out to be the ignition module down along the column...
It had some moisture in it, very little in fact it was hard to tell but it was there. I packed the connection with dielectric grease and plugget it back together. Now it all good. I don't quite understand how it got wet way down there but apparently when the rain was comming in at the drivethrough it was enough to get it wet somehow.

This should still be happening as it is a standard program for these trucks. You have to manually push the drivers side down. If you do it from the passenger side they all stay down.
