Coolant leak

I just bought my first diesel on 9/29 and the other night i checked the degas bottle and it was dry. I filled it back up the max mark on the sticker and checked it today and it was almost empty again.

The truck is an 05 f250 CC KR with 72,000 miles on it. The original owner already had a turboback exhaust, airraid intake and edge juice. I got the oasis report on it two weeks after i bought the truck and it had already two egr cooler replacements. I bought the edge from the original owner (bought the truck at a dodge dealer) and have been runnning that for about a week and half. I know that everyone runs the spartans tunes, but seeing as i just bought this truck and am still in college i can't quite afford that and gauges right now so i plan to run the edge for a few months and the get an xcal3 and maybe use the edge for gauges.

Anyway, I have not experienced any loss of power or white smoke just missing coolant. I crawled in the engine a little while ago and the only thing i noticed was wet gunk around the intake manifold and egr cooler.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and i hope i covered the problem well. By the way, great site and I have been reading these posts since i bought the truck.

Sounds like possibly another EGR cooler and or oil cooler. Dump the edge and run stock till you can get the SCT or just stay stock. If your financially stapped you don't need to be lead footin it anyway. You have to pay to play. No free rides there!! Not preachin just facts.
On second thought it could just be the cooler hose. Good luck, I hope it's that simple.

I usually have to add about half a gallon of coolant every oil change. I pull a lot of trailers so I don't know if this is normal or not. I'm just going to keep adding until the problem gets worst if it is a problem.

I was just about to post about the same thing. I have just started losing a little coolant since installing the ASE tune. Only about 1/2 inch down in the degas bottle and no evidence of puking, just a little white crust around the lip when I take the cap off. I'm just going to top it off and see if it does it again. If it does, I guess it's time for a trip to the dealer.

Cheers,
Neil

This may be a stupid question but when you fill the degas bottle up does the coolant run directly into the radiator?

yup, try something once. run the truck untill its warm. then while its running crawl under the truck and grab the lower radiator hose and pull it around a little bit. my truck had a similer issue and found it to be the hose had a leak up by the clamp. never could find it because it only leaked when it was under pressure from driving. When i pulled mine around it created a single drop that told me what it was. just an idea. Good luck!

Why is "time" highlighted in my original post and more importantly why does it direct you to LIPD's website??

I think it is sponsor advertising.

Thats quite odd; as LIPD (as far as I know) isn't a sponsor here anymore.

My truck is going to Stealership for the 3rd time on Monday. 1st time replaced EGR and cooler, 2nd time lowered the degas bottle to recall level. Still puking coolant. I am pretty sure it is the head stud problem. Degas bottle has clear all the time tea kettle noise now. I don't understand something. My truck ran a 13.56 at the track last week. Don't you think the truck would be losing power if the head gasket was leaking.
